2017 Lincoln MKX vs Lexus RX350

Lexus RX 350, the brand's best-selling vehicle, was significantly redesigned for the 2016 model year. The 2017 model added nearly five inches of length overall, with the wheelbase also increasing by nearly two inches. The extra length results in enhanced rear-seat room. Key features include available LED headlamps, 12.3-inch color infotainment screen and three 20-inch wheel choices. Updates for the 2017 model year are expected to be minor and are expected to include the addition of the Lexus Safety System+ to the RX 350 standard content. A hybrid version is also available. See how Lincoln MKX measures up.

2017 Lexus RX 350 features interior space optimized for five passengers, with significantly more leg room for rear passengers.

Lexus had no choice but to address noteworthy shortcomings for the RX 350 that include very cramped rear leg room. And it's Lincoln MKX that delivers the following advantages over RX 350:
  • Rear leg room (+1.6 inches)
  • Front head room (+0.5 inches)
  • Front shoulder room (+1.1 inches)
  • Rear shoulder room (+1.4 inches)

"While it's true that the redesign does address a number of notable inadequacies for the RX 350, it still falls short of Lincoln MKX in terms of interior space. For example, Lincoln MKX delivers nearly two inches more rear leg room than RX 350. It also provides more head room and more shoulder room. If you're looking for a roomy vehicle, look no further than Lincoln MKX."

Either Lincoln MKX engine delivers more horsepower and torque than the single RX 350 engine choice.
  • 3.7L Ti-VCT V6:
    Horsepower: 303 @ 6,500
    Lb.-ft. of torque: 278 @ 4,000
  • 2.7L GTDI V6:
    Horsepower: 335 @ 5,500
    Lb.-ft. of torque: 380 @ 3,000

"If you value performance and exceptional handling, coupled with a ride that can be tailored to your liking or road conditions, take Lincoln MKX AWD for a test-drive."
"You'll experience the difference with its standard continuously controlled damping (CCD) feature."

Higher Lexus vehicle prices are off set by their higher content level.

Actually, it's Lincoln MKX that delivers a better value. Consider the following:
  • Heated seats are standard on Lincoln MKX; they cost an additional $440 on RX 350
  • Cooled (not merely ventilated) front seats are available on Lincoln MKX; they're not available at any cost on RX 350
  • HID headlamps are standard on Lincoln MKX; they're not available at any cost on RX 350
  • Also not available at any cost on RX 350 are a capless fuel filler, active noise control and infl atable rear safety belts

"Compared to the Lexus RX 350, Lincoln MKX delivers a lower starting price and numerous standard features that are either extra-cost options or not available at all on RX 350. Lincoln MKX further offers complimentary Pickup & Delivery Service and a Roadside Assistance Program that is good for the life of the ownership experience. The Lexus counterpart ends after 48 months."
